Who we are
Recyclage d'auto st-Jean inc ("we") operates a scrap yard at 57 Rte 219, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. This policy explains what personal information we collect on this website and when you ask for a quote, why we collect it, and your rights under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25).
Information we collect
- Quote requests: name, phone number, pickup address or city, vehicle year, make, model and condition, and photos if you send them. The website form stores nothing on our servers: it opens WhatsApp with your message, which you choose to send.
- Calls, texts, WhatsApp or email: the information you give us.
- At pickup: the information needed for the SAAQ ownership transfer (registration certificate, ID).
- Browsing the site: technical and usage data (pages viewed, device type, referrer, clicks on call buttons) collected through cookies and the measurement tools listed below.
Why we use it
- To make you an offer, schedule towing and pay you.
- To meet legal obligations tied to buying and recycling a vehicle (SAAQ transfer, records).
- To measure site traffic and ad performance so we can improve our service.
Cookies and measurement tools
This site uses the following third-party services, which may set cookies on your device:
- Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads (Google LLC): visit statistics and ad conversion measurement.
- Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms): Facebook and Instagram ad measurement.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft): anonymized page-usage analytics.
These tools load a few seconds after the page opens, or at your first interaction. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's (Ad Settings) and Meta's opt-out tools. The site works fully without them.
Sharing and storage outside Quebec
We do not sell your personal information. It may be shared with the SAAQ for the ownership transfer and processed by the providers named above (WhatsApp, Google, Meta, Microsoft), whose servers may be located outside Quebec. We use these services because they provide adequate protection of the information.
Retention
We keep quote-request information only as long as needed to respond to it, and vehicle-purchase documents for the period required by law. After that, they are securely destroyed.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write or call us: we respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
